Soletair Power has been awarded as the “Best-in-Class” solution in the Embodied Carbon & Carbon Capture category for the Real Estate Board of New York’s REBNY PropTech Challenge 2022.
REBNY, New York City’s leading real estate trade association, in partnership with New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and Commercial Observer, made the theme of this year’s PropTech Challenge “Getting to Carbon Net Zero”. The focus was on sustainable developments and ongoing efforts by the real estate industry to reduce emissions throughout the built environment. Vendors and technology solution providers from four different sustainability categories were asked to submit their proposed solutions to a panel of judges with representatives from REBNY, NYSERDA and Commercial Observer. The finalists from each category were invited to present in New York City.

“Our members are early adopters and innovators of energy efficiency and represent some of the world’s leading experts in reducing carbon from the built environment,” said Chris Beach, REBNY’s Chief Technology Officer. “As the industry seeks to bring tenants back to a better office or help residents feel safer in residential buildings with new health- and wellness-focused amenities, we cannot slow down the rate of progress and investment in building sustainability.”

Soletair Power develops modular direct air capture systems that enable buildings to capture CO2 directly from the air and be a part of the large-scale deployment of carbon dioxide removal measures.
In addition to finalist presentations, Demo Day featured discussions with public and private sector leaders at the forefront of the real estate industry’s quest for a more sustainable future. This includes NYSERDA Director of Market Development Patrick O’Shei, Brookfield SVP of Operations Michael Daschle, RXR Realty SVP of Property Management Michael Aisner, Tishman Speyer Head of U.S. Engineering Paul Rode, Durst Organization Senior Engineering Manager Ed Bricker, Jaros, Baum & Bolles Director of the Deep Carbon Reduction Group Molly Dee-Ramasamy and REBNY SVP of Policy Zachary Steinberg.
